As soon as ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ trailer was out, fans started to compare it with Hollywood movie ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ and pointed out many similarities from the film. And even Aamir Khan’s character ‘Firangi’ was under the scanner, and called it Indian version of Jack Sparrow (played by Johhny Depp) in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
However, when Aamir Khan was questioned on the same, he commented, “Intrinsically, they are both similar characters because dono badmaash hai (both are naughty). I personally feel and hope that when you see Firangi then you will forget Jack Sparrow. I don’t think Victor wrote it based on Jack Sparrow.”
He also revealed that he has never seen any hero like that in Hindi films, “It’s my toughest character till date. It will be challenging for the audience as well because there will be times when they will not like me. I’m hoping that people enjoy the character and take him for what he is. It’s a very unusual hero. I have not seen a hero like that in Hindi films,” the actor stated.
‘Thugs of Hindostan’ also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh in pivotal roles. In the movie, Aamir is playing the rebel Firangi Mallah who will be up against Khudabaksh Azaad (Big B). The movie is slated to release on November 8, 2018.
