Actor Prateik Babbar's recent wedding to his longtime girlfriend Priya Banerjee has become the talk of the town. The couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at Prateik’s late mother Smita Patil’s house in Bandra, keeping things low-key and private, on February 14, on the occasion of Valentine's Day. However, what has caught the attention of many is the revelation made by Prateik's half-brother, Arya Babbar, about not being invited to the wedding.
Arya, an actor and stand-up comedian, shared his thoughts with his fans during a recent comedy gig, which he posted on YouTube. He started by expressing how happy he was for his brother, Prateik, as he was marrying the 'beautiful and talented' Priya. However, his tone quickly turned humourous as he jokingly complained about not receiving an invitation.
"I gave my brother the benefit of the doubt, assuming maybe someone had influenced him into making this decision," he said.
He went on to share an exchange with his mother, saying, "My mother is so upset and cranky that she calls me every morning, crying and saying, 'What should I do now that I have learnt these Punjabi boliyan? Do one thing — you also get married for the second time'."
Mocking the concept of second marriages, he stated, "I agree my father married twice, my sister also married twice, and now my brother is getting married for the second time. Mere kutte ki bhi 2 girlfriends hai (Even my dog, Happy, has two girlfriends). I don’t mind getting married for the second time, but I’m too lazy to go through the complications of a divorce."
Arya also shared his conversation with his father about how to respond to media asking about his exclusion from the wedding. "My father said, 'Tell them, mard toh shaadi karte rehte hai (men keep getting married)'."
For those unversed, Prateik is the son of Raj Babbar and late actress Smita Patil.
Prateik and Priya got engaged in January 2024. The Chhichhore actor was earlier married to Sanya Sagar. However, after four years of marriage, they decided to split in 2023.
