Bollywood’s social media use restricts journalistic efforts

Bollywood stars are now not using the media to tell the world what they want to. While they are keeping mum on their relationship when quizzed by the media, they are clearly making it clear by posting intimate details and pictures on social networking sites.
Earlier, they would prefer not to talk about the relationships at all, but now they want to make it clear about their preferences and romances thanks to the social media and the right of self expression without being misunderstood and misinterpreted and importantly misquoted as well.
When newly-wedded Kareena Kapoor cooked a meal for her husband Saif Ali Khan it was on the social media for the world to see and Twitter journalists to follow up or what is being construed as the new romantic pair in Bollywood — Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh using the medium to highlight their partying in Dubai — everyone seems to tell their tweethearts about their love escapades to the world.
But then, look how these pictures are coming in. They aren’t coming in from their own handle, as it may look like they themselves are promoting their love stories… they are using their PR people to set up fan clubs and fan handles and getting these pictures being tweeted from those handles.
This is what one would call as an innovative celeb marketing using what one calls as highly informed ‘fan clubs’ to spread lurve or news about the lurve stories!
So the paparazzi can now rest in peace as the celebs are making sure that they go out of job as well by ensuring that the pictures of their trysts reach the relevant media.
While the media was kept at bay from the Saifeena wedding blushing pictures of the bride and groom made its way to social media websites. Honestly, fans of the couple were surely not invited for the wedding to allow them to tweet pictures.
The image of Kareena toiling in the kitchen were obviously not taken by her maid or chef who are a part of twitter.
“Ranveer makes me laugh a lot. He makes me feel special. That’s it. If I’m in a relationship, I’ll talk about it,” was Deepika’s refrain when she was asked about the relationship.
“I am not dating her,” was his reply. Twitter has to say| different story.
While Priyanka Chopra and Shah Rukh khan pretend to get angry when asked about their feelings for each other, what they do on twitter is exactly the opposite.
“Thank u @iamsrk..ur belief has always kept me going,” she wrote. And he says, “All the best @priyankachopra for ‘TMK’. Working so can’t make it to
Premier. Will catch it later if I can get tickets! It’ll be huge InshaAllah.”
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan kept her daughter Aaradhya’s first birthday under wraps, but her dad-in-law Amitabh Bachchan posted pictures with the text; “With her parents on her 1st … love to all.” Another post of the baby with Abhishek Bachchan said: “Aaradhya on her 1st birthday with her Father … thank you all for the blessings and love.”
Esha Deol also posted honeymoon pictures, saying; “My birthday night with hubby BT vertigo Bangkok 😉 super food must try!!!!!!”
Poonam Pandey tweets and scandalises social media. Other smaller stars tellt he world what they keep doing to ensure it makes news.
Aamir’s FB Page uploaded an picture of him and his son, and John Abraham’s car ride with his fiancé Priya Runchal was also publicised.
Looks like celebs only need Twitter and Facebook to communicate to their fans and the print and TV media can start using social media more to get news.
