After gaining much appreciation at film festivals around the world, Irrfan Khan-starrer movie QISSA is now all set to release in India. News is that the film will be released under PVR Director’s Rare on September 26.
‘QISSA is set in the backdrop of India’s partition in 1947. It narrates the story of Umber Singh, a Sikh, attempting to forge a new life for his family by keeping their true identities a secret from their community. The film is directed by Anup Singh and also features Tillotama Shome, Rasika Duggal, Tisca Chopra apart from Irrfan Khan.
QISSA is the first to shoot under the Indian-German co-production treaty and it is an international co-production between India, Germany, Netherlands and France. Buzz is that the film secured funding from the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC), the Dutch Film Fund, Eurimage and German funds Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and
North Rhine Westphalia (NRW).
