On July 28, 2017, Salman Khan’s dear friend and 90s rising star Inder Kumar passed away at the age of 45 due to cardiac arrest. Once upon a time, Inder Kumar was considered as one of the attractive looking actors of Bollywood. However, destiny changed and he remained forgotten for all.
Back in the late 90s, Inder made people take notice of him by delivering an impressive performance in his debut film, Masoom (1996). With his dashing looks and chemistry with Ayesha Jhulka, everyone thought that this star will surely be entertaining us. However, things didn’t work in his favour and he got stereotyped in supporting roles.
After Masoom, Inder had to be content with supporting roles in the films like Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi (1996), Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaaye (2000), Gaja Gamini (2000), Maa Tujhhe Salaam (2002) and Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge (2002). These films though didn’t boost his career.
Inder then shifted to TV and bagged the lead role in the most popular TV show of 2000s era, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. However, his career had started to suffer as he was bedridden for five years due to a broken vertebrae owing to a helicopter fall while doing his own stunt on the sets of the film Maseeha in 2002. After facing a lot of problems in life, Inder Kumar again featured in the film of his friend Salman Khan, Wanted. But the film didn’t push Inder’s career forward either.
Apart from films, Inder’s name cropped up in controversy after a 22-year-old model accused him of rape. Sadly, after his untimely death, a video went viral on social media, in which a drunk looking Inder keeps saying that he would commit suicide. However, some reports stated that the video was actually shot for a film.
In a press conference, Inder’s wife Pallavi told media, “It is not a real video. It is actually a scene from a film called Phatti Padi Hai Yaar for which he had shot a year-and-half ago. It is sad that people are confusing the film scene with his real life. During that phase, he was highly disturbed. There were, of course, days where he broke down. He was concerned that his name was dragged into this but he never gave up.”
