Pakistani actress Humaira Asghar Ali was found dead in her Karachi apartment on July 8, Tuesday, after her landlord reached the flat with local police to get it vacated. The 32-year-old had reportedly died around two weeks ago, and her heavily decomposed body was recovered from the flat.
According to reports, the landlord of the flat in Karachi's Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase-VI, where Humaira lived, had moved court after she had stopped paying rent since 2024. With the court order in hand, the landlord, along with local Gizri police, reached the apartment around 3:15 pm on Tuesday to get it vacated, but they got a whiff of foul smell emanating from the flat.
When the door was not opened despite repeated knocks, people grew suspicious, and cops decided to break in the house. As they broke the door open, they discovered Humaira's decomposed body inside.
Humaira's body was in 'very advanced stage of decomposition': Doctor
A report in Dawn stated that police surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed informed cops how Humaira's body was in a "very advanced stage of decomposition", which meant that she had died at least two weeks ago. Her body was moved to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination.
The cops have also ruled out foul play for now as all doors were locked from inside. They are now trying to reach out to Humaira's family members and relatives. The actress had reportedly been living alone for the past seven years.
Humaira was missing from social media
Humaira was quite active on Instagram earlier, but netizens noticed that she had gone completely missing from social media since September 2024.
On the work front, Humaira was a part of Pakistani reality show, Tamasha Ghar, which is akin to the international show, Big Brother, and India's Bigg Boss.
In 2015, she also featured in the film, Jalaibee.
