On Tuesday, Brahmastra director Ayan Mukerji held a prayer meet for his late father, veteran actor Deb Mukerjee, who passed away on March 14. Bollywood celebrities like Vicky Kaushal, Ayan's close friend Ranbir Kapoor, and Aditya Roy Kapur, among others, arrived in Mumbai.
Deb's prayer meet was at Filmalaya Studio, Ceasar Road, Amboli, Andheri West, Mumbai.

The Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikandar actor's last rites were held at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Juhu, Mumbai, which was attended by several close family members and friends, including Kajol, Rani Mukerji, Karan Johar, Jaya Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Salim Khan, Alia Bhatt, and Ranbir Kapoor.
Deb Mukherjee was the uncle of Bollywood actressess Rani Mukerji and Kajol.
The Mukerji family is known for hosting grand annual Durga Puja celebrations in Mumbai, attended by celebrities like Rani Mukerji, Ranbir Kapoor, Kajol, Alia Bhatt, Tanuja, Bipasha Basu, and Jaya Bachchan, among others. The Mukherjee family's Pujo tradition has been carried on for 77 years.
Deb Mukerjee was married twice. His daughter, Sunita, from his first marriage, is married to director Ashutosh Gowariker, while his son, Ayan Mukerji, is from his second marriage.
The late actor has appeared in several movies including, Sambandh, Adhikar, Zindagi Zindagi, Haiwan, Mai Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki, Karate, Baaton Baaton Mein, and many more.
Deb Mukerjee's last film appearance was in the 2009 movie Kaminey, starring Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, where he portrayed the character of Mujeeb.
