Earlier we reported of Deepika Padukone opting for a customised lehenga on her wedding to Ranveer Singh. Taking the trend ahead, Priyanka Chopra who tied the knot with Nick Jonas also went in for the one of a kind look.
While the dual wedding was certainly a showstopper it was her custom gown for the white wedding made by Ralph Lauren that stole the show. However, for the designer this wasn’t just a couture but an ensemble with a meaningful touch that sealed the couple’s love in an aesthetic memory.
According to People, the dress which took a mind-boggling 1,826 hours to make, even had a few hidden messages sewn in. Apart from the 75ft veil, Priyanka also had a piece of mother-in-law Denise Jonas’ lace wedding dress added into her own. The embroidery also had her husband’s full name ‘Nicholas Jerry Jonas’, and their wedding date, ‘1st December 2018.’
It did not stop just there. The former Miss World also had names of her parents ‘Madhu & Ashok,’ the traditional Hindi mantra ‘Om Namah Shivay,’ and the words ‘family,’ ‘hope,’ ‘compassion,’ and ‘love’ on her dress.
For the Hindu wedding, PC opted for a Sabyasachi lehenga which also had the names of her husband and her parents sewn into the waistband.
Following the same as the bride, Nick’s Purple Label tux also had lace from Priyanka’s dress sewn into his lapel, as well as the Urdu words ‘My Jaan,’ which means ‘my life.’
