We know that our beloved B-townies always unite and show their support in case of adversities and now buzz is that Bollywood celebrities including the likes of megastar Amitabh Bachchan and stars like Aamir Khan, Gulzar, Ranbir Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar and Sonakshi Sinha have come together to support a campaign to raise funds and awareness for flood-ravaged Kashmir. The campaign– known as “Hum Hain… Umeed-E-Kashmir” – is an initiative of the entertainment industry which is led by the Event and Entertainment Management Association (EEMA), the Film and Television Producers Guild and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (ZEE).
Started on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, the relief campaign took off with a message from actor Ranbir Kapoor calling on the nation to join hands and help people of Jammu and Kashmir. This was released with a thematic music which is composed by ace lyricist and composer Gulzar and Vishal Bhardwaj and the song is sung by Sukhwinder Singh.
What’s more, reports suggests that on October 18 a concert will also be hosted at the Indira Gandhi Indoor stadium at the national capital New Delhi. It’s being said that the concert would be attended by stars like Aamir, Farhan, Ranbir, Sharmila Tagore, Gulzar, Sonu Nigam, Shaan, Rekha Bhardwaj and Imtiaz Ali to name a few. At the event, the stars will appeal to the people to donate to key NGOs and specified Disaster Relief Funds in support of the Kashmir relief project.
Talking about the grief issue, megastar Amitabh Bachchan said in a statement, “The plight of the people of Jammu and Kashmir has always been a matter of concern and the floods have only made it worse… All that we do simply won’t be enough to meet the various challenges facing the people; but every drop counts. Hence, we call on everyone in our country and from the world community to come forward and provide their support.”
It’s being said that similar live events would also take place across other seven cities which include Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Jaipur, post October 18. These events would also be aired on October 26 on 38 Zee channels.
Interestingly, as a part of generating funds a collection of various celebrity memorabilia will also go on auction, wherein all the money generated through the fundraiser through sale of tickets, donations, sponsorships, commercial time and auctions will be given to charities in Jammu and Kashmir and the most recently hit Assam.
