Anil Kapoor, the man who doesn’t age at all, will be seen in Sanjay Gupta’s next, titled ‘Mumbai Saga’. Apparently Kapoor’s character would be based on Balasaheb Thackeray and also borrows elements from Vasai-Virar strongman Bhai Thakur and NCP Chief Sharad Pawar.
The story is penned by S Hussain Zaidi and Milap Zaveri who had written dialogues for SHOOTOUT AT WADALA, which was based on Zaidi’s book ‘Dongri to Dubai’. Prashant Pandey who developed Amitabh Bachchan’s character in ‘Sarkar’ and ‘Sarkar Raj’ which had strong shades of Balasaheb Thackeray is working on crafting Anil Kapoor’s character with Robin Bhatt.
While the buzz has been doing the rounds about ‘Mumbai Saga’, filmmaker Sanjay Gupta did not want to talk about it as the film is in the initial stages.
“It’s too early to talk about the character since the film is still being written. But yes, it is inspired by some real politicians who were instrumental in converting Bombay to Mumbai and changing the city’s landscape,”
