Sara Ali Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput’s ‘Kedarnath’ teaser is out and it is all sorts of spectacular. Set against the backdrop of Uttarakhand floods, the story revolves around the leads Sushant and Sara and their love story brewing amidst the floods. The teaser holds on to a promise of a blockbuster with dramatic performances of the leads and amazing direction by Abhishek Kapoor. While the teaser gives us an insight into the characters of Mansoor and Mukku played by Sushant and Sara.
Abhishek Kapoor’s most awaiting ‘Kedarnath’ is based on the tragic 2013 floods that hit North India and claimed the lives of many people.
The famous hill shrine of Kedarnath in Rudraprayag bore the brunt of torrential rains and was covered in mud and slush. About 500 people, including several pilgrims, were said to missing in the area and once the water receded, the death toll rose significantly and relief teams were are able to reach the affected areas.
A portion of the Kedarnath temple compound was washed away but authorities said no damages were reported to the structure itself. The Ram Bada area, a busy spot near the temple, was also completely submerged and was not visible from rescue choppers.
The death toll in Uttarakhand reached 52. Rudraprayag district was the worst hit with 20 lost their lives and 73 buildings, including 40 hotels, along the banks of the Alaknanda swept away in the swirling waters of the river.
Talking about the movie ‘Kedarnath’, the movie is a love story between Mansoor (Sushant) and Mukku (Sara). Mansoor, a reserved and reticent Pithoo (porter) who lives with his widowed mother, in a hamlet called Rambara and helps pilgrims make an arduous journey upwards to the temple town. His world goes into a tailspin as he encounters the beautiful and rebellious Mukku who sucks him into a whirlwind of intense love.
