The item girl cum actress believes that wonderful dancers like Helen were once known for only dance numbers but off late this trend is changing
Starting her career with a bang with Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Asoka’, Hrishitaa Bhatt disappeared for a while but is back albeit in a new avatar. Hrishitaa, also seen as an item girl in films like ‘Page 3’ and ‘My Name is Anthony Gonsalves’ is planning to pursue her love for dancing seriously.
She will be seen in the upcoming ‘Ammaa Ki Boli’ and ‘Prakash Electronics’ and shares, “I am looking forward to some more dancing numbers as that is something I love doing. So, for sure I am going to be seen in more item numbers.” She also professes that with mainstream heroines like Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif turning item girls, its no longer a taboo. She believes, “Wonderful dancers like Helen etc were once known for only dance numbers but now off late this is changing. I think it also depends on the perception of the audiences. People have started accepting big heroines doing it, and we as item girls are seen in negative light. Earlier if you were sticking to your expertise, you were type casted but now people are accepting it.” And further adds, “I am a performer since I was really young. I have no particular ambitions, so as long as the audiences are accepting it. I am alright with whatever I do.”
When asked about her sabbatical, she shares, “I never wanted to come into the industry so I went very slow in my career. There was a time when I didn’t want to do films and I stuck to that. It’s just a couple of years I have started looking out for work and I’m looking forward to it,” and further added, “If you are not getting the right kind of work then what is the point of doing it. I must be happy also doing it right.”
Talking about her preference for acting or dancing, she quips, “Both! When I was seven years old I started dancing and it is so much more than just movements. It’s inner growth, a lot of acting, body language and is so complete as a dance form. It helps me during acting and when it comes to acting, it gives me a different pleasure altogether. They both go hand in hand.”
There were rumours of her being married, however, she clarifies saying, “About my love life. Well, people got me married! I am going out shouting out loud that I am not married. I got a lot of phone calls and I was just clarifying. I would never hide my marriage, as matrimony is something sacred.”
