Tata Steel Acquires 3 New Centres In Europe    

London:  Tata Steel, Europe’s second largest steel producer, today announced acquisition of three new service centres in Sweden, Finland and Norway to strengthen its offering to manufacturers in the Nordic region.  Tata Steel in Europe struck an agreement with steel producer SSAB to buy its strip products service centres at Halmstad in Sweden and Naantali in Finland.               It will also acquire from SSAB the remaining 50 per cent stake it does not already own in Norsk Stal Tynnplater AS, another strip products service centre based in Fredrikstad, Norway. The company, however, did not disclose value of the transactions.

Sensex Up 271pts On Late Buying Surge               

Mumbai:  Rising for the third straight session, the benchmark Sensex gained 271 points to end at 28,805.10 and the Nifty index reclaimed 8,700-mark by jumping 84 points on a flurry of late buying in anticipation of positive retail inflation and IIP data.  A good showing by Europe also influenced trading, brokers said, adding that global investors lapped up a dose of monetary stimulus from Sweden’s central bank and reports that Russia and Ukraine have agreed a ceasefire will take place.  In domestic stocks, all the sectoral indices, barring FMCG sector, closed in the positive terrain.

MTNL Q3 Net Loss Of Rs 730.83 Cr

New Delhi:  State-run telecom firm MTNLreported a standalone net loss of Rs 730.83 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2014. The company had reported a net profit of Rs 428.03 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal, MTNL said in a filing to the BSE. The telecom operator, which provides services in Delhi and Mumbai, had reported a net profit for the same quarter last year mainly on account of exceptional income of Rs 1,404.88 crore.  The employee costs for the company stood at Rs 628.67 crore while licence fees and spectrum charges amounted to Rs 61.35 crore for the reported quarter.

JN Port And Port Of Antwerp To Establish World-Class Training Centre

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust and APEC Antwerp/Flanders Training Center, Antwerp Port Authority, will sign an MoU to establish the ‘JNPT-APEC Port Training Centre’ in JN Port area at Navi Mumbai. The Centre is to be an international class training institute offering training opportunities to officers from ports in India and neighbouring countries. This new venture is the initiative of Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Shipping.

Fuel Adequacy To Be Discussed At Indian Power Stations-2015

Fuel Adequacy is the theme of the conference  to be  inaugurated by Piyush Goyal, Minister of State for Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy in New Delhi. NTPC ‘s  International Power Plant Operation and Maintenance Conference, Indian Power Stations-2015 commemorates commencement of  service from its first ever generating unit at Singrauli, on the same day in 1982. A S Bakshi, Member Central Electricity Regulatory Commission and former Chairperson Central Electricity Authority , Dr Arup Roy Choudhury, Chairman and Managing Director, NTPC   will also be speaking on the occasion.

Rel Cap Q3 Net Rises 28% At Rs 213 Cr   

Mumbai:  Financial services major, Reliance Capital  reported 28% rise in its third quarter net profit at Rs 213 crore on robust growth in insurance and mutual fund businesses.  Total income rose 11% to Rs 2,105 crore.  Reliance Life Insurance’s profit rose 45 per cent, while that of Reliance General Insurance rose 37 per cent.
