Sidharth Malhotra, Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh's upcoming film 'Thank God' continues to court controversy.
Days after a lawyer from Jaunpur filed a case against the director and cast, a fringe group from Karnataka reportedly called a ban over the film for 'mocking religious sentiments'.
Reacting to the trailer of 'Thank God', Hindu Janajagruti Samithi spokesperson Mohan Gowda told a news portal that they will 'never tolerate mockery of Chitragupta and Lord Yama of Hinduism', which is seen in the movie.
According to several media reports, the group has demanded that the Censor Board should not give a certificate to the film and that ‘Thank God’ should be banned for hurting religious sentiments and mocking Hindu religious concepts and deities.
Hindu Janajagruti Samithi has also warned of protests.
Earlier, the members of the Kayastha community filed a police complaint in Civil Lines Police Station of the capital city Raipur against Ajay Devgn and director Indra Kumar for allegedly hurting their religious sentiments. Community leader Shrivastava said that in the movie, Chitragupta was shown in a bad light.
Ajay, who plays the role of Chitragupta, was showcased as gheroed by the seminude girls, and the dialogues between Sidharth and Ajay were quite demeaning which hurt our religious feelings, Shrivastava complained.
The film also stars Nora Fatehi. It is scheduled to hit the screens on October 25, 2022.
