World Theatre Day : ‘Theatre allows one to live with purpose’

Theatre is the only medium through which a human being can live with purpose, said director of MP School of Drama Alok Chatterji. He was speaking on Rangmanch and Vayaktitva Vikas in an event Rangsaptak, organised by Tagore Vishwa Kala Kendra, Bhopal to mark World Theatre Day in Sharda Hall at Ravindranath Tagore University, Bhopal on Wednesday. He said that there is no any option besides theatre for personality development and build self confidence.

Chatterji further said, “And that’s why all the opportunities of personality development can be acquired by theatre.”  “The relationship of the art is live and that’s why it gives the lesson of collectively. Here we prepared a new height of sensitivity and understanding,” he added.

Tagore University vice chancellor Prof. A K Gawal and director, Tagore Kala Sanskriti Kendra, Vinay Upadhyay highlighted on the importance and present scenario of theatre.  Besides, Rang Sangeet, and felicitation ceremony were organised on the occasion.  Around 20 theatre artistes in the city presented works of poets like Nazeer Akbarabadi, Jaishankar Prasad, Girish Karnad, Sumitranandan Pant and Ravi Tanveer were part of play under the direction of Rajeev Singh in Rang Snageet.

Child artists feted
Six child actors of the city: Stuti Tiwari, Isha Goswami, Malvika Chatuvedi, Suyash Shrivastava, Greci Singh and Ayush Chaturvedi were feted for their energetic participation.

Tribute to Habib Tanveer
The rendition of Nazeer Akbarabadi’s work – Duniya mein badshah hai woh bhi aadmi…’, which gained worldwide popularity through its on stage adaptation by Habib Tanveer, earned huge round of applause from audience. They also presented songs of Habib Tanveer’s play Agra Bazar, Skand Gupt and Jis Lahore Nahi Dekhya, enchanted the audience.
