Rs1,200cr interest of defaulter farmers waived; principal to be repaid in installments.

BHOPAL : CM Shivraj Singh said on Saturday that collectors had been asked to dispose of revenue cases within a fixed timeframe. “I will hang the collectors upside down if they don’t work properly. Those who do not do their work will face severest action,” he said, adding, “they won’t be able to continue in their job.”

Chouhan issued this stiff warning in his address at the conclusion of the meeting of the state BJP executive here on Saturday.

He said the interest of defaulter farmers would be waived and the principal amount realised from them in installments. He said this would enable the farmers to get loans in the future.

Around 6 lakh farmers have been declared defaulter in the state. They owe around Rs 6,000 crore and the co-operative banks have to realise Rs 1,200 crore interest from them. Chouhan’s announcement will come as a big relief to these farmers.

Chouhan said the government was committed to ensuring that all farmers got remunerative prices for their produce and that was why it had decided to procure onions and pulses at MSP. He said the Congress did not even know what the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission were. Otherwise, it would have realised that the government had taken steps in the interests of farmers which even the commission had not recommended.

Conspiracy on the lines of ‘Nayak’ film

Chouhan said the violence during the farmers’ agitation was on the lines of film ‘Nayak’. He said just as bomb blasts were engineered in the film to destabilise the government, a similar effort was made by inciting the farmers to commit violence.

Cong wanted to destabilise state govt, claims BJP state executive –

BHOPAL : Prime Minister Narendra Modi is extremely popular among the poor. Before him, only Indira Gandhi was as popular.

This was the view of Janardan Mishra, BJP MP from Rewa, which he expressed while speaking on the political resolution moved at the meeting of the state executive of the BJP here on Saturday. The entire executive sang paeans to Modi, with the members vying with each other in showering lavish praises on the PM.

Modi was praised for implanting GST, improving ties with Israel, promoting Yoga, turning the country clean, ending VIP culture and for making BJP men the President and the Vice-President of the country.

The resolution said the Congress was behind the farmers’ agitation and its objective was to destabilise the state government. The resolution also said the chief minister’s fast had the desired and favourable impact. It said the BJP would enter the poll arena in 2018 under the leadership of Chouhan with the target of winning 200 seats.

Not farmers’ but Cong’ agitation: Tomar
