BHOPAL : In these times of insatiable lust for money, a traffic police constable set an example of honesty by returning Rs 50,000, which had fallen from the bag of a farmer while he was returning home on Saturday evening. The farmer had brought the money on loan by mortgaging his wife’s ornaments in order to repair the roof of the cattle shed.
Head constable Kailash Vishwakarma posted in traffic duty on railway crossing near Lalghati talking to Free Press said, “I was on duty near the railway crossing when the gateman and I saw that a bag containing some documents and money was lying on ground. In the bag I there were 4-5 passbooks, cheque-book diary and some documents and money. I called the number of the owner of the bag and deposited it with beat in-charge inspector Sujeet Tiwari. Later the owner of the bag Meena came and I handed over the bag to him. Tears rolled from my eyes when I heard his story.”
Bag Owner Raghuveer Singh Meena, a farmer, resident of Badarkha Sadak, said, “I had mortgaged my wife’s ornaments to get a loan of Rs 50,000 to build the roof of the shed in my farm on Saturday afternoon. While returning my bag fell near Lalghati. On returning home when I did not find the bag my heart skipped a beat. I do not know what to do, how to react. I started crying. Then like an angel HC Vishwakarma called me and returned the money in front of TI Tiwari.”
