Burhanpur : The timely intervention by police averted a major trouble in the sensitive town after people from two communities came face to face over a dispute on Sunday afternoon. Cross complaints were registered at police station.
Some youths were playing cricket at Rajpura when a resident Ranjit Singh objected. Furious over the same the youths thrashed Thakur and his two sons Vikram and Bholu who were admitted to Nehru Hospital with critical injuries.
Soon the information spread in the town and supporters of the victims reached police station. However, after some time, members from minority community also gathered at the police station.
Police registered cross complaints to sort out the matter where on the complaint of Ranjit Singh a case under Sections 294, 323, 506 and 34 of the IPC was registered against Imran Shaikh and Aslam while a case was registered against Ranjit, Bittu and Vikram under the same Sections on the complaint of Imran.
However, no arrest was made so far.
It was alleged that police filed cross complaints under pressure from influential people and resentment is brewing among supporters of the Ranjit who was thrashed by over a dozen members of rival group.
The residents raised their voice against working style of police as on earlier occasion too, police had once picked up a shopkeeper and paraded him while
beating in full public view on a false complaint of sending messages to a woman.
The woman in question had, later, apologized and the shopkeeper was freed but what about his reputation and torture he had suffered by the police.
