Gwalior : The Tansen Samaroh has begun with the traditional pomp and glory rehearsing Hari Katha and Milad on the premises of Tansen Maqbara (Tomb) at Hazira Gwalior here on Friday. Madhya Pradesh minister of state for culture and tourism Surendra Patwa inaugurated the traditional function and he conferred the prestigious ‘Tansen Alankaran’ award for year 2014 to eminent classical singer Pandit Prabhakar Karekar from Goa.
Pt Karekar is a well known personality in music fraternity. State Government has given him Rs 2 lakh as part of the award and the memento. Union minister and MP from Gwalior Narendra Singh Tomar, State minister Maya Singh and local BJP MLA Jaibhan Singh Pawaiya were also took part in the inaugural function. The first session of the Tansen Samaroh started with the Hari Katha and Milad in morning. The traditional Hari Katha is recited by Dholi Bua Maharaj, the Saint of Nath Sampradai. Santosh Prendare the son of Shree Kant Nath Dholi Bua recited the Hari Katha after the death of his father (Dholi Bua Maharaj).
