Hoshangabad : More than 2 lakh devotees took a dip into river Narmada on the occasion of Somwati Amavasya, neglecting the spine-chilling cold weather. Many of them donated money, grains, clothes, fruits, cooking oil etc on the occasion of Somwati Amavasya. A large contingent of police force too was present on the occasion of Somwati Amavasya which consisted of the state police force, SAF, Homeguards and some from Gram and Nagar Raksha Samiti. The auspicious occasion of Mahasnan on Somwati Amawasya also attracted pilgrims from places such as Bhopal, Vidisha, Raisen, Sehore and other districts.
A special train was also run by the railways on this occasion. Enough number of RPF and GRPF forces was also deployed in the stations and the trains to make sure that no untoward incident takes place.
