BHOPAL: The Hanumanganj police on Tuesday swooped down on a sandalwood smuggling gang and arrested its five members with pieces of sandals from Nadra bus stand.
Four accused hail from UP, while one from Kalapipal in Shujalpur. Total weight of seized sandal wood is 128 Kg worth around Rs 1.25 lakh. TI, Hanumanganj police station, Bhupendra Singh said the arrested smugglers have been identified as Mubarak Khan, Sultan Azahar, Sofiyan Azhar, Mohd Saleem and Waseem Akhtar, all residents of UP.
TI Singh said they were held from Nadra bus-stand and during search of their bags police found small logs of sandal woods after which they were detained.
