‘Shringar’ of Shiv-Parwati, Radha-Krishna win appreciation

BHOPAL : ‘Mughdha’, Symphony Band and colourful folk dances of different states were presented here on Friday – the penultimate day of the five-day ‘Lokrang-2016’ at the open-stage auditorium of Ravindra Bhawan.

The day’s programme began with ‘Mugdha’. Based on Shringar and Bundelkhand themes, the item included classical and folkdances including Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Naurata, Gangur and Matki, choreographed by city-based noted Kathak exponent Dr. Lata Singh Munshi and presented by 60 artists.

The group dance began with Naurata, a folkdance of Bundelkhand performed to invoke the goddess. After that ‘Saundarya Lahri’, based on the composition of Aadi Shankaracharya was presented in Kathak dance form, which enchanted the audience.

It described the Shringar of Lord Shiva and goddess Shakti and also how they created this world. It was followed by folkdance Gangaur and Matki of Malwa. A description of Shirngar of Lord Krishna-Radha was presented in Bharatnatyam dance style. It was based on the composition of ‘Ashtpadi’ of Jaidev.

The dance wrapped up with ‘Raasleela’ in folk and classical dance form which delighted the audience.

Moreover, some other folk dance including ‘Jindua’ and ‘Bhangda’ of Punjab, ‘Gotipuaa’ of Odisha, ‘Hojagiri’ of Tripura, ‘Roof’ of Kashmir, ‘Rai’ of MP were also showcased under ‘Dharohar’ which won huge round of applauses. A melodious performance of Symphony Band won the hearts of audience. It was presented under ‘Deshanter’.

The festival is being organised by Adivasi Lok Kala Evam Boli Vikas Akademi and Madhya Pradesh Sanskriti Parishad.

The festival would conclude on January 30 with Sufi and Bhakti Gayan of well-known popular playback singer Richa Sharma and Geetanjali Rai from Mumbai and Pune.
