BHOPAL: The eateries adjacent to Upper Lake bank at Sheetaldas Ki Bagia use roadside space for parking. Vardhman Park is also there. There are three to four eateries. People, whether they go to Vardhman Park or eateries, use roadside space for parking their vehicles.
If it is a paid parking facility notified by Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC), then entire stretch could have been used for paid parking. But only the space before eateries is being used. This kind of practice need to be checked otherwise it will continue to persist and then BMC administration would have to take stern action in the name of encroachment rendering many people jobless.
It is a failure of BMC administration which has neither made arrangement of a notified parking lot nor has taken any decision to check such practices. This kind of illegal practices promote unauthorised agents who start charging at illegal paid parking. People do not bother to verify.”- Bhai Jan, 40, handicraft vendor
BMC should take a decision about the notified parking otherwise, such practices would not be checked. It is prime location. Just adjacent to it, there is a residential area so parking would not be allowed. BMC administration should also take stern action against it. It is not justified to use roadside space but people have no other option but to park their vehicles on roadside. It is lacuna on the part of the BMC. Multi level parking are being developed at various places. There must be same provision for it.
