Retd forest ranger loses Rs 4 lakh to burglars

BHOPAL : Unidentified burglars barged into the locked house of a retired ranger of the forest department located in Ashoka Garden locality on Monday night and decamped with cash and jewellery worth more than Rs 4 lakh. However the police have registered a case of theft of cash and jewellery worth Rs 1.80 lakh.

TI Ashoka Garden Mohan Sharvan said that the victim house owner Mohammed Khalik Hashmi, 60, son of Mohammed Ibrahim, resident of B 231, Pragati Nagar Ashoka Garden in his complaint to the police stated that he was a retired ranger from the forest department. He along with his family members had gone to attend the engagement ceremony of one of their relative’s at Panwadi village in Mahoba district in Uttar Pradesh on October 10. When he returned to the city with family on Tuesday morning he found the locks of the house were broken and goods were strewn all over the place.

The locks of the Almirah were also broken and cash Rs 60000 along with gold and silver jewellery worth more than 3.5 lakh were gone. He later reached the police station and lodged a complaint. Police following his complaint registered a case against the unidentified burglars under section 457, 380 of IPC and launched a manhunt to nab them.

In another incident unidentified miscreants stole Rs 40000 from the dickey of Scooter of a businessman parked in the busy Kotwali police station area on Monday evening around 7 pm.

According to Kotwali police victim Ashok Gupta, 48, son of KL Gupta, resident of Akriti Garden, Nehru Nagar, in his complaint to the police stated that he runs a grocery store Laxmi Kirana at Roshanpura Chouraha. On Monday evening he had gone to Kotwali area to purchase some goods. He also had to pay money to creditors for which he kept Rs 40000 in the dickey of his Activa Scooter. He parked his vehicle in front of the shop of Manohar Chhabaria in Old Kabadkhana area. When he returned after ten minutes he found that the money kept in the dickey was gone.

Later he reached the police station and lodged a complaint. Police following his complaint registered a case against the unidentified burglars under section 379 of the IPC and started investigations.
