BHOPAL : The three-day ‘Rangkriti Utsav-2016’ began with a felicitation ceremony and Bharatnatyam performance here on Wednesday at the Ravindra Bhawan Auditorium.
The programme began with the felicitation ceremony. Well-known city-based personalities were felicitated with ‘Rangkriti Samman’ for their contribution to art and literature. They included theatre actor and light designer Kamal Jain, TV actor Shivangi Sharma, classical dancer Dr. Rashmi Pandey, film director Aarti Goswami, author Santosh Chaubey and theatre actor Akhilesh Jain. The awards were conferred by Minister for Public Relations Rajendra Shukla.
The programme concluded with splendid performance of city-based young Bharatnatyam danseuse Payal Rahvendra. She started off with ‘Rangpuja’ which means Natraj ka Naman (greet of lord Shiva). It is noteworthy here that it is custom in South India to present Rangpujs before dance.
After the mesmerising performance, Rahvendra presented Ganesh Vandna. She also presented ‘Durga’ and ‘Bho Shambho’.
Her energetic performance won the hearts of the audience especially her body movements and facial expression.
The programme was presided over by BDCA chairman Aruneshwar Singhdev. Principal Secretary, Culture Manoj Shrivastava and director of Public Relations Anil Mathur were present as guest of honour on the occasion.
