Union minister for communication, Ravishankar Prasad, speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, said that Rahul Gandhi had lowered the dignity of Congress national president by abusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A person, who shares the post, occupied by Sardar Patel and Indira Gandhi once, is now lowering its dignity, said Prasad, adding, that public would give reply to Rahul’s allegations. Commenting on not taking legal action against Rahul for using foul language for Modi, Prasad said democracy runs on courtesy.
Prasad, attacking former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh, said what you could expect from a person who called Zakir Nayak as a ‘messenger of peace’ and who spoke against the nation on the issue of Batla House encounter. Claiming that Madhya Pradesh witnessed steady growth under the regime of BJP, the union minister said that he was proud of Shivraj’s performance.
Speaking on cow protection, Prasad said that Indian constitution has defined the concept of protection of cows. He said that Prime Minister has rightly raised questions on Congress’ new found love for cows. Congress is having different takes on cow, as the party talks of bovine protection in Madhya Pradesh, its workers in Kerala differ, he added. Prasad also said that the construction of Ram Mandir would be done as per directives of the Constitution.
Focus on misuse of social media
Ravishankar Prasad said that government is keeping eye on misuse of social media and related crime. All have freedom to express one’s views but there is also need to check crimes committed through social media, said the union minister. Whatsapp, Facebook and Twitter are being used across the country and that is why they require more control, he added.
