BHOPAL : Taking a dig at the state government for alleged failures on the law and order front in the state, Congress leader Arif Masood, at a rally at Tallaiya on Friday, said that it was a matter of deep concern that the administration remains a mute spectator to any group brandishing swords and arms in full public view.

“VHP members brandished swords during a procession in Bhopal on December 6 to mark Shourya Diwas. Such incidents create panic in society and consequently clashes between communities take place. Administration should take action against elements, which want to disturb the society.”

Masood said, “We have appealed to the people from all walks of life to maintain peace. We handed over memorandum to administration stating that it should be alert whenever anyone ventures out with arms.”

Masood said, “We strongly protest such practices. Congress MLA from Bhopal Arif Aqueel had also raised the issue in the state assembly and accused the government of being soft towards those who were out to disturb peace in society.
