Police clash with ‘poppy-seeds smugglers’

Mandsaur : A clash took place between the police and a couple of smugglers of Dodachura. One of the smugglers fired a bullet in the air and fled away, whereas the other smuggler escaped. However, the police followed the smuggler and caught him during a short encounter. It may be noted, that one of the bullets in the encounter was shot at smuggler’s hand and he is now being treated at the district hospital.

As per the information received, three smugglers ran away on noticing the police team at Badpur. The police team informed SP Verma and informed that the smugglers posses an AK-47 rifle. The SP informed all the nearby stations and reached Badpur with the police team.

According to the SP, the TI of Narayangarh received information that poppy seeds are being smuggled at Badpur. On hearing this, the station in-charge of Narayangarh, Shivmangal Singh Sengar, arrived at Badpur with his team. As soon as the team reached Badpur, two girls ran towards the residence of Arjun Rajput, where sacks full of poppy seeds were being kept in a car.

 On the sight of police, Arjun and two other smugglers ran towards the farms. After a stretched struggle, police was able to catch one smuggler, who informed that he is a resident of Jodhpur and his name is Mangilal Vishnoi. The police have also seized a number plate from the car, which had ‘Bharat Sarkar’ written on it.
