BHOPAL : No state government in the country has a scientific plan to link rivers in the country.
Isha Foundation head Jaggi Vasudev, the flag bearer of Rally for Rivers, stated this while talking to mediapersons here on Saturday. He said every state government should have a water policy.
“Flood is not a negative thing. The concern is to conserve water in rivers so that their flow can remain undisrupted for years,” he remarked.
He said till date, he has met only two chief ministers one of Pondicherry and other of Madhya Pradesh, although he has visited many states. ‘‘Now, other CMs are writing letters to conduct rally in their areas,” he added.

Commenting on the sand policy, he said only the domestic house with the built up area of 3,000 square feet should be given permission to use river sand. For commercial or industrial complexes, manufactured sand (M-Sand) should be used. He said 18 months of time should be given to set up M-Sand units. M-Sand is a substitute of river sand, which is produced by crushing hard granite stones.
Responding to a query on corrupt and controversial godmen, he said they are polluting society and should be dealt with firmly. His response was same for corrupt politicians.
On September 3, union minister of environment, forest and climate change Dr Harshvardhan had flagged off the Rally For River from Coimbatore. It will conclude on October 2 in New Delhi after covering 16 states and holding 23 events in major cities while traversing a distance of 8,000 kilometres in India. It is for the first time that Isha Foundation is taking out the rally.
