Anuppur (Madhya Pradesh): Every year, as per rituals, Shastra Pooja (worshipping of arms) is performed during Dussehra.

This year however, the ritual seems to be falling apart, as all the arms have been submitted at police stations due to the model code of conduct being in force ahead of the assembly elections.

Anuppur collector has also issued directives to the general public to submit their arms at their nearest police station to avoid legal action later.

Collector Ashish Vashishth has also directed the TIs of all the police stations in the town to ensure that everyone possessing licensed arms deposits it at their respective police stations with immediate effect.

The rule however, does not apply on police personnel, armed forces personnel and security personnel.

The model code of conduct shall remain in force till the assembly elections 2023 conclude successfully.
