MP: Bhopal races past all districts in terms of downpour in 24 hours

Total 12.3 cm rainfall in the district, city records 8.1cm rainfall

BHOPAL (Madhya Pradesh)

After a relatively dry June, Bhopal district seems to be making up the quota of rainfall this monsoon as the district recorded above par 12.3cm rainfall in last 24 hours on Tuesday, standing at number one spot among all districts in the state.

It is highest rain fall in the state, according to meteorological department officials. From June onwards till date, there has been a 38% surplus in the rainfall as of now in Madhya Pradesh, said Met office on Tuesday.

From June to till date, the Bhopal district recorded 23.5 cm of rains as against the normal downpour of 17.1 cm. The state though is having a rainfall deficit of 5%. The state has received 16.4cm rainfall as of now as against the average of 17.2cm, Met office informed FPJ.

The heavy downpour could continue in state capital Bhopal in next two to three days and falls under Yellow alert. Dhar, indore, Khandwa, ALirajpur, Jhabua, barwani, BUrhanpur, Ujjain, Neemuch, Ratlam, SHajapuir, Dewas, Agar and Mandsaur are districts under Orange alert in line for heavy to very heavy rains.

Various districts and divisions like Indore, Ujjain, Narmadapuram, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Sagar and Shahdol have been placed under yellow alert by the Met office, notifying heavy rainfall in next 24 hours.

Bhopal city recorded 8.14cm rainfall while Mandla recorded 5.7cm rainfall, stands second in the state.

Similarly, Betul recorded 3cm while Seoni recorded 2.8cm and Sagar and Umaria recorded 2.5cm each. Khandwa recorded 2cm and Jabalpur recorded 1.9cm while Gwalior recorded 1.8cm rain fall. Pachmarhi recorded 1.7cm and Guna and Narmadapuram recorded 1.6cm each. Malajhkhand recorded 1.5cm and Damoh recorded 1.2cm rainfall in last 24 hours.

Monsoon is active in entire state so rain and thundershowers are likely all over the state in day time on Tuesday, meteorological department officials added.
