Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A man was found dead after being stabbed during a late-night assault in Jabalpur on Tuesday.
According to information, police arrived more than 5 hours later due to arrangement's being made for 'chal samahro' in the vicinity.
Details of the incident reveal that the victim, identified as Bittoo Kumar, along with his friends Mukesh and Kundan, had ventured out to witness the Dussehra festivities on the night of the celebration. As they were passing by an area near the MPEB (Madhya Pradesh Electricity Board) office in the jurisdiction of the Gadhakota police station, they found themselves caught in a terrifying ordeal.
According to eyewitnesses, the group of friends encountered a couple of unidentified assailants who were apparently involved in stealing mobile phones and Bluetooth devices from pedestrians. When Bittoo and his friends attempted to protest against this theft, a heated argument ensued. The situation quickly escalated, and the assailants resorted to violence.
Bittoo Kumar was overpowered by the assailants and attacked with sharp-edged weapons. The brutal assault led to grievous injuries that proved to be fatal. As the victim's life hung in the balance, his friends, Mukesh and Kundan, also came under attack but managed to escape with injuries.
