Bhopal: In a bid dispel any discord over chief ministerial candidate and show unanimity in decision, a proposal to nominate the new legislature party leader has been forwarded to All India Congress Committee president. After Congress party’s massive victory in state, the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting was held in here on Wednesday in which the newly elected MLAs unanimously passed a resolution authorising Party president Rahul Gandhi to take a decision on chief minister.

The two central observers A K Antony and Bhanwar Jitendra Singh attended the CLP meeting. The two observers, who had come to elect the chief minister, sensed the divide in supporters of Jyotiraditya Scindia and Kamal Nath. To ease the tension, senior MLA Arif Aqueel moved the resolution authorising the Congress president to nominate the legislature party leader. Supporting the resolution, other MLAs passed it unanimously.

The Central observers accepted the proposal, as they too wanted a name acceptable to all; the MLAs sitting inside the hall and the supporters queued up outside. The future planning of the party was also discussed at the meeting. The newly elected legislators were asked to devote themselves to public service without any prejudice. Later the observers interacted with MLAs and also had one one-to-one talk with some of them.

The day started with the waves of supporters demanding their leaders as a chief minister, hundreds of supporters of Scindia reached the Governor House raising slogans ‘Hamara CM Kaisa Ho, Scindia Jaisa Ho’. Nath supporters were not far behind as they also came chanting “Hamara CM kaisa ho, Kamal Nath Jaisa ho”. At the PCC office too, thousands of supporters had gathered raising pitch for Scindia and Nath.
