Economic Offence Wing (EOW) on Friday issued a notice to registrar of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication seeking complete details of the controversial appointments of teaching staff and financial irregularities. On the complaint of the varsity registrar Deependra Baghel, the EOW on April 14 had registered an FIR against former vice chancellor B K Kuthiala and 19 others over alleged financial anomalies and recruitment irregularities.

The agency on Friday asked the registrar to furnish appointment details of the faculty. He has also been asked to give the copies of the published recruitment advertisement on the basis of which appointments were made in the university. The registrar has been told to give note sheet, joining orders and salary paid till date including other details of the appointments.
It has also sought details of the alleged financial irregularities. The registrar in his complaint to EOW had stated that the then VC had misused the university funds for personal use and also made payments to ABVP and other right-wing wing groups to conduct programmes. Taking note of the same, the EOW has asked Baghel to submit the bill presented by the then VC, the approval note sheet, the payment release orders and the payment vouchers.
The investigation agency has also asked to present the documents which are related to the opening of the study centres in various parts of the country. The proposal of the study centres, the orders of the establishment, the orders of the appointments for the centres and the expenditure details till date of the centres have also been sought by the EOW. The registrar is expected to furnish all the details to EOW by Monday.
