BHOPAL: A demand to make documents related to the hanging of Bhagat Singh public is being raised. The demand has gained momentum after the West Bengal government made files related to Subhash Chandra Bose public.
Yadavendra Singh, who is grandson of brother of Bhagat Singh, interacting with journalists here on Thursday, demanded to make documents related to hanging of Singh public.
Singh said if documents are made public then the names of traitors on whose witness Bhagat Singh was given capital punishment would come into the knowledge of the public.
Yadavendra Singh said the progeny of such traitors held top posts since the British rule. He said photographs of other martyrs should also be printed on currency notes. Singh said it was unfortunate that revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh are being portrayed as terrorists. He demanded that the state government should incorporate the profile of Bhagat Singh and other martyrs in the curriculum of schools and colleges. Singh said he has asked the government to give status of martyr to Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev. He said as per information obtained under RTI, they are not in the list of martyrs.
Yadavendra Singh said UPA government did not pay any attention to his demand and even the NDA government in its one year rule did nothing in this connection. Singh said he did not demand Bharat Ratna for Bhagat Singh as these titles had got politicised and those who are in power are using them to oblige their favourites.
