Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Visitors’ entry has been banned in airports in the state as a precautionary measure amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan following recent cross-border strikes.
According to airport authority officials, in the backdrop of India-Pakistan tensions, visitors’ entry at airport terminal buildings are banned in MP. Civil Aviation Security makes secondary ladder point checking compulsory for all flights as part of enhanced security arrangements.
As part of stepping up security arrangements, the agency has made Secondary Ladder Point Checking (SLPC) compulsory for all flights at all airports. Generally, it refers to checking passengers and their hand baggage just before boarding a flight. This is in addition to primary security checks. Besides, the entry of visitors to the terminal building of airports and sale of visitor entry tickets has also been banned.
Raja Bhoj Airport director Ramji Awasthi informed Free Press, ‘It is necessary to enhance security measures at all civil aviation installations like airports, airstrips, helipads so that no untoward incident takes place. Passengers have been asked in Bhopal and other airports in MP to arrive one-and-half hours before takeoff time.’
