BHOPAL : Former Minister Laxmikant Sharma finally got bail in all the cases related to Vyapam scam on Friday. Sharma is likely to come out of the Central Jail, Bhopal on Sunday morning. He is the third accused to get bail in all cases after the CBI took over the probe. Earlier, Vinod Bhandari and Bharat Mishra had got bail.

The news of Sharma getting bail has enthused his followers. They expressed their happiness by bursting fire crackers in Bhopal, Vidisha, Sironj and Lateri.

At the same time, it has caused anxiety in the government circles. Political leaders and top officers fear that Sharma may make statements putting them in troubled waters.

Sharma was arrested by Special Task Force (STF). Sharma may express his views on STF’s working. With the CBI investigating the Vyapam scam, Sharma has no fear of the government and STF. In the light of this fact, a strategy is being prepared to ensure that he doesn’t reveal any embarrassing details related to Vyapam.

Sharma’s release has a political angle too. Several BJP leaders maintain that Sharma has been punished severely despite his guilt not being probed. BJP State Vice-President Raghunandan Sharma said that it was good that Laxmikant had got bail. He said Laxmikant was a reputed political leader and there is no question of him running away from the courts.

A senior BJP leader, on the condition of anonymity, expressed his happiness saying that Laxmikant had got justice at last. He said it was unjust to keep anyone for a long period in jail when nothing has been proved against him.

Sources said preparations are on for show-of-strength on Sharma’s release. A large number of his followers from Sironj and Lateri will welcome him, when he emerged out of the jail on Sunday morning.
