BHOPAL :  Delegates of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), who are in the state capital, wanted amendments in detailed project reports (DPR) particularly at curving points.

JICA delegation led by Tadaaki Murakami held a meeting with Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Company Limited (MPMRCL) officials. The other members of JICA are Sawa Shiroma, Takau Fukuma and Siddartha Kairon.

The JICA delegates, in a meeting with officials over DPR, reportedly wanted some changes in DPR particularly at two points-at curvy points and tunnels. For curve points, the delegates want more space for smooth operation. Similarly, for tunnel, there must be sufficient more space so amendment is needed in DPR.

The Madhya Pradesh government has obtained consent for getting a Rs 12,000-crore foreign loan for its ambitious Bhopal and Indore Metro rail projects. The funds will be available at 0.3 per cent interest rate, much lower than those available in India.

Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Company Ltd (MPMRCL) OSD Kamal Nagar, while talking to Free Press, said, “Today, JICA delegation had a meeting with officials regarding the DPR of Metro Rail and from Thursday they will visit for survey of Metro routes.”

Bhopal may lose Smart City project if the site is changed. UAD Commissioner Vivek Agrawal said here Nearly 325 acre land has been acquired in Shivaji Nagar and Tulsi Nagar for smart city development. Earlier, Higher Education minister Uma Shankar Gupta had advocated changing the site for Smart City from Shivaji Nagar and Tulsi Nagar to TT Nagar where redensification is in pipe line.  Even mayor Alok Sharma had told that not handful officials could decide the smart city. It is public of Bhopal to decide the smart city. Under such circumstances, UAD Commissioner Vivek Agrawal said that if site is changed, Bhopal may lose smart city project as project has been clarified before officials in Delhi and then Bhopal has been selected in top-20 cities.
