Indore : MP tourism department is organising ‘Jal Mahotsav’ at Hanuwantiya of Indira Sagar dam in Khandwa district, from Feb 12 to 21 to attract tourists to the city.
Regional manager of MP tourism, Anil Saxena said, “To celebrate Narmada river that makes MP what it is today, a visual and experiential spectre of art and activities, MP tourism is initiating the mega annual event, Jal Mahotsav.”
Further, he disclosed that the tourism department has organised Swiss cottage tents for tourists, with all the facilities an individual would require. Each cottage is equipped with the comfort and luxury of a hotel and costs Rs 6,000 for a couple. There are 25 tents that have been put up by the waterside.
Saxena said, “Looking at the variety of activities that are available during the Jal Mahostav we have also combined and customised two packages, i.e. ‘Hanuwantiya Camp and Island Night Camp’ and ‘Hanuwantiya Camp’.” This 10-day event will bring forward an opportunity to experience the colourful customs and rich traditions of tribes that prevail on the banks of the river. “The idea is to create a local experience for tourists through local art, craft, folk music, dance and cuisines, specially the delicious flavour of Indore,” Saxena said.
Jal Mahostav has something for everyone, for the adrenaline junkies, this will be one action-packed joyride taking them from one thrilling adventure sport to another. And for the art nomads, on offer would be cultural treat and enigma. So gear up for this truly distinct festivity of India!
The craft bazaar is being designed to have a handloom centre, handicraft shops, pot making, lac artists, henna artists and an exhibition on Simhastha 2016.
“We have something for everyone, people from all walks of life, and with varied interests can participate in the celebration of Narmada River,” Saxena said.
Bullock cart ride, volley ball, tug of war, kite flying, and camp fires will be organised in the land activities.
The pleasure of Narmada can be truly enjoyed in the fun-filled water adventure activities, like wind surfing, parasailing, water skiing, jet skiing and banana rides for sports enthusiasts. While kids can enjoy water zorbing, motor boat and cruise boat.
“Connecting with nature is essential for our spirit to grow, so we have activities like bird watching, treasure hunt and trekking as part of our packages,” Saxena said.
There are other air and adventure activities like hot air ballooning, Burma rope bridge, artificial climbing wall, net walk and rope drill which will be organised by the department during the fest.
