Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A 32- year old jobless engineer allegedly committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan in Jabalpur, police said on Wednesday. He was depressed over deteriorating financial condition of his house.
The deceased, identified as Akshay Parake, a resident of Sai Colony in Dhantari in Jabalpur, was working with a private firm in Pune. During the first wave of Covid 19, he lost job. He returned to his home town and tried to get a job, but he didn't succeed.
His mother, who was working as a teacher with a private school, also lost job because of the lockdown and closure of school.
Father of deceased Shrikant Parake told police that Akshay went to sleep on Tuesday night. When he didn't come out of his room till late morning on Wednesday, his younger brother went to his room to check and found him hanging.
On getting information, a police team from Sanjeevani Nagar Police station reached the spot and sent the body for autopsy. Investigation officer, Bhumeshwari Chouhan said that the preliminary investigation suggested that Parake had committed suicide. “He was jobless and facing financial crunch. It may be one of the reasons for his extreme step. We have started an investigation to find out the exact reason that drove him to take this step,” he told journalists.
