Were allegedly involved in bank dacoity in Dewas
BHOPAL : Three activists of the outlawed Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) were sent on police remand till March 19 on Saturday.
They were produced before ADJ Bhupendra Singh at his residence and ATS (Indore) took them on remand in connection with Dewas bank dacoity case.
Initially, they were sent on judicial remand till March 10 in Khandwa jail break case. In the mean time, Indore ATS took them on remand for Dewas bank dacoity. Those who were sent to police remand include Sheikh Mehboob, Amjad Khan and Zakir Hussain.
Bhopal ATS had requested the Rourkela court to handover three of the five SIMI terrorists including Amjad, Saliq, Meheboob, Zakir Hussain and a woman, Nazma Bee (mother of Meheboob) were presented before the SDJM, Rourkela.
NIA from Pune and Bhopal, Special Police from Pune, Maharashtra and Telangana police had also sought their remand. Bhopal ATS was allowed to take them for remand so Bhopal ATS brought them on production warrant.
NIA advocate Subhash Bhattacharya said, ATS had produced all the SIMI men in the court. ATS has taken all of them on remand till March 19, after all of them will be sent to judicial custody; NIA will take them on police remands.
