BHOPAL : The Bhopal crime branch nabbed four drug peddlers from Bhanpur and recovered 20 kg of cannabis worth Rs 1.5 lakh from their possession on Tuesday. The accused had come to cattle market to supply drugs.
Police, acting on a tip off about persons carrying drugs, stopped a car near cattle market in Bhanpur area and nabbed the four persons. The cops recovered 21 kg of Cannabis. The four accused have been identified as Ashish Gurjar, Virendra Singh Thakur, Govind Chaturvedi and Rahul Raghuvanshi.
Thakur used to work with cash management service company CISCO while Chaturvedi used to work as an agent for AU Finance Company.
Gurjar is the kingpin of the gang and used to work as a farmer in Vidisha. He came in contact with Thakur and Chaturvedi for taking loan in Vidisha during which he told them that consumption of cannabis in Bhopal is increasing among the students and they could earn fast money by selling drugs in the city. The fourth accused, Raghuvanshi joined the trio after losing his job as a driver with VNS College 2-3 months ago.
Raghuvanshi came in contact with Gurjar who had also worked as a driver and was aware of the areas where the number of students is more through whom the gang could make fast bucks.
The four were nabbed while on their way to city to supply Cannabis.
The main accused, Gurjar has confessed that he was involved in selling Cannabis in Vidhisha in the past.
The Chevrolet car seized from the accused was not having registration number. Details of the car are being searched to find out if the car is stolen or belong to the nabbed accused.
The police have registered a case under section 8 and 20 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
