BHOPAL: Nazeerabad police on Wednesday nabbed a 45-year-old man from Punjab on the charge outraging modesty of a minor Dalit girl at Runaha village on October 11.
According to police sources, accused Gulab Singh was nabbed at Barnala in Punjab for abducting and sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl. After outraging her modesty behind Lal Mata temple, the abductor dumped the profusely bleeding girl near her home and fled from the crime scene.
Police said that wife of the accused died three years ago. After the death of his wife the accused used to work at a private company in Punjab and during the Navratri festival he came to the village. On the very next day of the incident he went missing which pointed the needle of suspicion on him and later in the investigation evidences of committing crime were found by the police.
Police found his involvement and nabbed him from Baranala in Punjab. A team was dispatched to Punjab where the accused was working and he was brought back by the team. The accused confessed to the crime after he was questioned. A reward of Rs 10,000 was declared by police during the investigation to provide the details of the accused. Police registered a case under sections 363, 376 and section 3/4 of the POCSO Act against Singh.
