Bhopal: Congress MLA Alpesh Thakor, the face of OBC community in Gujarat, said Jyotiraditya Scindia should be projected as party CM face in the state Assembly elections. “We have to give tough fight to BJP in Madhya Pradesh as we have done in Gujarat, said Thakore while interacting with the media persons here on Sunday.

The MLA said that he would work to unite the backward classes in Madhya Pradesh and fight for their rights. OBCs are deprived of their constitutional rights in Madhya Pradesh and if data are taken into consideration, we can say that only a handful OBC person have been given jobs in the state, he said.

Thakor, who was in Bhopal to attend convention held by OBC, SC/ST Ekta Manch at Samanvay Bhavan, said he would try to bring the OBCs, SCs, STs on a single platform in the state to uproot the BJP which is in power since 2003.

There is a 27 per cent reservation in government jobs for the OBCs in the country, but they are still backward and deprived of their constitutional rights, said Thakor. In Madhya Pradesh too the backward communities are deprived (of their rights), he added.

Asked if the OBCs would work out a seat arrangement, he said, we will first ask the Congress to include the issues of OBCs, SCs, STs in its manifesto. Seats are not an issue as of now, we want the political parties to work for the welfare of the poor and backward classes, he said.

OBC, SC/ST Ekta Manch’s main demands include in ratio of OBC population, direct recruitment at 54 per cent post and reservation in promotion, 54 seats seat reservation for OBC on pattern of SC/ST in Vidhan Sabha, clearance of 1.60 lakh backlogs posts, simplification of banking loans for OBC, SC,ST, implementation of Forest Act 2005 and others.
