BHOPAL : The MP Congress Committee, on Thursday, claimed that the chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan had taken a mine on lease in the Balaghat district. The party demanded CBI probe into the case.
“We have sent the papers related with the mining lease allotted to SS Minerals in 2006 to the CBI. The firm is owned by one Smt SS Chauhan,” said MP Congress Committee spokesman KK Mishra.
Mishra claimed that “Smt SS Chauhan” was the wife of Shivraj Singh Chauhan. “The Chief Minister cannot grant favours to his family members and it is a clear case of misuse of power,” he alleged.
Mishra said 17.9 acre land was allotted in Ponia village in Balaghat district to the firm through an order issued on October 11, 2006 for ten years from January 11, 2007. Mining lease was given for land record (khasra) nos 83, 85/2, 125/2, 128, 128, 84, 85/1, 80/2, 80/2 and 80/2, 81/1-2, overlooking the norms. This land was part of reserved forest and the union government had reserved it for Manganese Ore India Ltd (MOIL).
