BHOPAL : The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is preparing to once again examine the basis of giving of clean chit to former Chief Minister and Union Minister for Water Resources Uma Bharati by MP Police in the Vyapam scam.

The SIT has sought information from the STF regarding those persons whose names were in the Excel Sheet but no action was taken against them. SIT is also going to ask Special Task Force (STF) the reason for not taking action against such persons. In this connection, STF would be asked to submit reply for giving clean chit to Uma without conducting any probe.

SIT is analysing in detail the probe conducted by STF in all examinations conducted by Vyapam. The High court had asked SIT not to probe but only to monitor the probe by the STF. Since then, the SIT has started tightening its noose around the STF.

Uma Bharati’s name figured in the Excel Sheet related to recruitment of Contractual Teachers, Former Examination Controller of Vyapam, Pankaj Trivedi, who is an accused in Vyapam scam, had also given statement that former Minister Laxmikant Sharma had given him names of some candidates telling him that these names had been given by Uma Bharati. One Leeladhar Pachauri, who is amongst the accused of Contractual Teacher Recruitment grade-2 scam, had given his address as B-6, Shyamala Hills, which is government residence of Uma in Bhopal. SIT may ask STF about the reason for not quizzing Uma.

According to reason SIT has asked STF to arrest all accused soon. Uma’s name came in the limelight along with Laxmikant Sharma in December, 2013. According to sources, Uma is the only one, whose name was in the Excel Sheet, but has not been quizzed so far.

Previously, it was SIT which scrutinised in irregularities in recruitment of Forest Guards in connection with role of Governor Ram Naresh Yadav, which led to STF file FIR against the latter. According to sources, SIT is also keeping its eye on the hearing to be done in High Court on Yadav on March 25, which would decide its further course of action.

Cong to submit ‘evidence’ against biggies in HC

After the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leaders will now submit ‘evidences’ in Vyapam scam in High Courts in Jabalpur and New Delhi soon. Congress leader Digvijaya Singh who earlier moved high Court and the Supreme Court for CBI probe in the scam, will submit the ‘evidences’ in the courts during next hearing.

“We have got report from laboratory and would now submit the evidences in High Courts both in Jabalpur and Delhi,” said senior advocate Vivek Tankha.

A delegation of Congress leaders and senior advocates Kapil Sibal and Vivek Tankha had submitted some documents and a CD to the prime minister on Wednesday demanding action against chief minister Shivraj Singh for alleged involvement in Vyapam scam.

They submitted ‘excel sheet’ carried the word ‘CM’ and its forensic report about tempering in the hard disk from which the excel sheet was retrieved with the date when the tempering was committed. The ‘excel sheet’ in soft copy and hard copy both was submitted earlier to Special Investigation Team (SIT) by Singh. Its probe was handed over to STF on the High Court’s direction. The STF was about to send the excel sheet and its soft copy for investigation for forensic investigation. Singh’s approach to Hyderabad forensic lab for the investigation and its certificate regarding alleged tempering could give new turn to the probe.
