BHOPAL : A ninth standard student died after a low-floor BCLL bus (SR-04) hit the scooter he was riding on, crushing his head, on Wednesday morning. The accident took place at Berasia Road turning near Bhopal Talkies under Shahjehanabad police station.
The deceased and his younger brother were going to Douglas Public School with their uncle. The other two sustained minor injuries.
The driver of the bus has not been arrested so far. He has told his higher authorities that the speed of the bus was within the stipulated limits.
According to police Shoeb and Taha, who studies in class five, with their uncle Amir were going to Douglas Public School riding a Honda scooter. When Amir was about to take a turn towards Berasia road, the BCLL bus bearing registration number MP-04-PA-1336 hit his scooter from behind. All the three fell down. Amir and Taha were thrown to the other side while Shoeb was thrown towards the bus and was crushed under its rear wheels. The bus, which was going towards Karond, was stopped at Gautam Nagar by the police.
SP (North) Arvind Saxena, talking to Free Press, said, “The BCLL bus was moving a bit fast and it hit the scooter from the behind. Shoeb died on the spot. His uncle and younger brother sustained minor injuries. The situation is under control. There was no public protest over the incident”.
