Bhopal: “It was a very nice experience to work with Rajkumar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor. Both are humble and down-to-earth,” said city- based artistes who worked with the lead actors in ‘Stree’. The movie is to be released across the country on Friday.

Talking to Free Press, the artistes also showered praises on director Amar Kaushik calling him very cooperative. Around 50 artistes from across the state have worked in the horror film, which talks about women empowerment.

Of them, 10 city artistes played the character role in the movie. The film mainly shot in Chanderi, also captures in its frame city’s Taj Mahal, Islam Nagar and a farm house at Gandhi Nagar. Some of the actors shared their experiences with Free Press: Excerpts:

Sushil Soni

My shooting in Chaderi lasted for five days and I played the role of Durga Prasad, who is personal assistant of a MLA. Besides me, my three sons also danced on a song in the movie. Rajkumar and Shradha are very friendly. They never let us feel that they were big actors. They took lunch with our unit. The nature of Amar Kaushik is also very good. He is so humble that initially, I couldn’t recognise him as director. I got to know this by others. I have been working in theatre for 30 years. I have also worked in movies like In Custody, Teesri Kasam, BA Pass-2 and TV show.

Saurabh Saxena

My role in the movie is that of a barber who does not let people unite on issue of ‘Stree’. I got selected for the role after an audition. I did three scenes and all scenes were completed in one take. I got chance to meet Rajkumar Rao and Shradha Kapoor face to face for the first time. They are very down-to-earth and humble. Rao works on unique topic which is related common man which I adore a lot.  In fact, director Amar Kaushik was very polite and humble. I did work with production house for the first time but it was very nice experience. Everything was systematic. Earlier, I have worked with Prakash Jha production as local artist co-coordinator and actor. I have also worked for Epic Channel’s show ‘Lootere-The Bandit of Brithish India’.

Anil Sanasare

I am associated with theatre for 18 years, but I got chance for the first time to work in a movie. I got to know about the movie through one of my friend. My role in the movie is of a villager who wishes to be a woman in next birth due to terror of ‘Stree’. I gave audition for the role and was selected. My scenes were okayed in three take. The director is very nice person. It was quite good experience.

Jyoti Tiwari

It is women oriented movie and talks about women empowerment. Its tagline is ‘Ab Mard Ko Dad Hoga’. My role in the movie is of seven minute. I played a role of a rural woman. I have four scenes which were shot in Chanderi. It was my first experience to work in a movie and it was quite good. Kaushik sir used to take care of us like a family member. Earlier, I have worked in ‘Crime Petrol’ and ‘Savdhan India’.

Heena Ansari

It was quite a good experience. I am playing a role of a rural woman. The cast and crew of the movie were very good and we had a lot of fun during the shooting. I got a chance to meet Rajkumar Rao and Shradha Kapoor. They are very cool and humble. I will love to work with the production house again. I work as freelance artist. I have also worked with K K Menon and also did some TV shows. I am doing ad for MP government schemes.
