BHOPAL: Tributes were paid to the victims of the Bhopal gas tragedy by special children of Chingari rehabilitation centre by conducting a small candle vigil at Neelam Park, on Monday. Children with different type of congenital disabilities like cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, muscular dystrophy, hearing impaired etc participated in this candle light vigil. The objective of the vigil was to recall the pain and trauma their loved ones had gone through. And these children would also want the world to learn a lesson from this tragedy and to take preventive measures to avoid the occurrence of any such disaster in the future. Chingari Trust has undertaken care of the children born with congenital disorders to parents affected by poisonous gas released from Union Carbide/Dow factory and ground water contamination thereafter. As of today nearly eight hundred such children are already registered with Chingari Rehabilitation Centre, with about two hundred children coming each day with their mothers to receive physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, special education, sports sessions, supplementary nutrition provisions and transportation facilities – all free of charge.
