Kharak dam: nexus of officials and politicians exposed

Khargone : Crores of rupees have been spent in the construction of Kharak dam project in Khargone district. But, since the start of the project, the construction of dam was in news due to using sub standard materials by the project contractors.

The affected farmers staged so many demonstrations for the rehabilitation work of dam affected people. But the concerned officials and dam contractor did not hear their appeals. even, both BJP and Congress leaders of region also took interests in rehabilitation process of dam affected people, but they did not bother for the quality of the dam construction work.

The district’s Bhagwanpura MLA Vijay Singh Solanki had raised the issue in state assembly regarding the quality of dam construction and damaging of dam canals. But, the department minister Narottam Mishra replied that the dam canals had been damaged by some anti-social elements, not due to using of sub standard materials in construction. Meanwhile, the fact is that the executive engineer of district water resources department Rajesh Patwa and his some other colleges just mislead the state government in that matter and tried to hide high-level corruptions in the dam construction.

According to source, the Kharak dam is being constructed with the cost of about Rs 60 crore by the Bhavya Sinhu Infrastructure Pvt Lt Company, Hyderabad. Since the start of the dam construction, the said construction has been involved in disputes.  The quality of dam construction has also proved as in first heavy rains, the dam canals have been started to damage. When the dam affected people launched agitation in protest the administration stopped their voice with using force.

The affected villages’ farmers alleged that due damage of dam canals, the dam water has entered in the fields and their standing crops worth crores of rupees have been washed out. If the condition would not be improved, the affected farmers can take any severe steps as they are not in position to bear losses.
